BERMAGUI
LITTLE GUMNUTS BERMAGUI
Little Gumnuts Childcare in Bermagui, NSW is open from 7am to 6pm. It is a purpose-built 45-place centre designed to create a homely and engaging space where children feel safe, happy and inspired. Set within the beautiful coastal surroundings of Bermagui, the centre embraces a strong connection to nature and community, encouraging children to explore, discover, and develop a love of learning through meaningful play. Our dedicated educators provide high-quality early childhood education and care, supporting each child’s individual interests and milestones. At Little Gumnuts Bermagui, we pride ourselves on building lasting relationships with families and creating an environment where children can flourish both socially and emotionally.
We honour the language and culture of the Yuin people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play. In Dhurga language, children are celebrated through beautiful words that describe different stages of growth — Babawaraga (babies), Djunggawaraga (young children), Muriyirawaraga (older children), and Wulimburawaraga (children, many children). These words reflect the importance of every stage of childhood and inspire the way we nurture, care for, and support each child’s journey at our centres.
We are licensed for 45 children per session of care:
Wulimburawaraga Sharks 0-2 Years | 4 children
Djunggawaraga Octopuses 2-3 Years | 10 children
Babawaraga Stingrays 3-4 Years | 10 children
Muriyirawaraga Whales 4-5 Years | 15 children
WULIMBURAWARAGA
0-2 YEARS | 4 CHILDREN
“Wulimburawaraga” is a word from the Dhurga language, the traditional language of the Yuin Nation on the South Coast of NSW. It means “children” or “many children” and is often used in connection with community, learning, and care for little ones.
The Wulimburawaraga room educators create an environment for children to develop safe and secure relationships with educators and children. Routines and activities are designed to reflect individual needs in a caring environment. This holistic approach in learning environment allows educators and families to work together in planning and reflecting on each child, and seeing their development as an ongoing journey that ebbs and flows naturally, supported by intentional teaching practice that is documented, scaffolded, and nurtured to cultivate the best potential outcomes.

DJUNGGAWARAGA
2-3 YEARS | 10 CHILDREN
“Djunggawaraga” is also a word from the Dhurga language of the Yuin people on the NSW South Coast. It translates to “young children” or “little ones.”
Djunggawaraga educators work closely with parents to support each child’s rapidly emerging social and emotional developmental, self help and skills for independence. The program supports and reflects the children’s needs and interests incorporating foundations skills and is enriched by working closely with each child’s parents. A day in the wallabies is exciting, dynamic, nurturing and with a strong sense of belonging for each child.
MURIYIRAWARAGA & BABAWARAGA
3-5 YEARS | 25 CHILDREN
“Muriyirawaraga” is a Dhurga language word from the Yuin Nation on the NSW South Coast, meaning “big children” or “older children.”
The educators in the Muriyirawaraga & Babawaraga group support children in their emerging interests and abilities to become confident and involved learners. As children’s interest become broader our environment becomes a precious resource, engaging and incorporating it into all aspects of our program, modelling respect, care, and appreciation for our natural and constructed environment and finding ways of enabling children to learn from the land. The children’s wider view of their world is further supported with transition to school activities at school and at the service.
